Paddington 2 should be prescribed as an antidote to anyone who finds the madness of the modern world a bit wearing. It’s probably possible to not absolutely love it, but it’s hard to see how.
Settled in with the Brown family, Paddington the bear is a popular member of the community who spreads joy and marmalade wherever he goes. One fine day, he spots a pop-up book in an antique shop — the perfect present for his beloved aunt’s 100th birthday. When a thief steals the prized book, Paddington embarks on an epic quest to unmask the culprit before Aunt Lucy’s big celebration.
Totally delightful film and well-made sequel. The cast alone reads like a Who’s Who of British cinema. Even the smallest role was taken by top talent – and Brendan Gleeson is fabulous! Hugh Grant did an absolute riot of the job! So over-the-top, so self-deprecating, so spot on – the guy finally showed some talent in film. That outburst of wailing in the end, too much. Personally, I have to admit laughing out loud quite a few times. It is just a fun fun film.
Paddington 2 is one of the most kindhearted and genuine films ever. If more people shared the same core values as Paddington, the world would be a MUCH better place. Paddington is what we as humans should aspire to be.
