Superior exercises in action-movie formalism, the John Wick movies evoke everything from Fritz Lang’s silent thrillers to Gene Kelly’s musicals.
After gunning down a member of the High Table – the shadowy international assassin’s guild – legendary hit man John Wick finds himself stripped of the organization’s protective services. Now stuck with a $14 million bounty on his head, Wick must fight his way through the streets of New York as he becomes the target of the world’s most ruthless killers.
Keanu Reeves has single-handedly made super-assassin John Wick into the phenomenon he is – by owning it and making it his own. This installment is probably the best. Directed by Chad Stahelski, the stuntman-cum-action film director responsible for helping bring Keanu back into the spotlight, redefines the genre. No CGI, this is pure action stuff. It is awesome. Simply awesome.
